Somebody says that cars are their best friends, and even exaggerates that they are more important than their lives. When their cars get hurt, they will be extremely angry. But the degree of anger is definitely different because cars also have a hierarchy for using in different ways.
Ordinary car. You just want to go grocery shopping and you will drive it. Similarly, people only drive in their comfort zone such as the community they live in because its ordinary appearance and unattractive color. The car’s owners are very careful that they do not surpass the strict line they set, because it will be like a sloppy person bumps into a beauty competition. People are trying to make fewer people see their car, and are only willing to drive it to deal with simple things such as going to convenient stores or shopping around supermarkets. Although ordinary cars seem to be described as “Cinderella” who does all the hard works in the fairy tale, it is still important in people’s mind. Its frequency of use is the highest among all kinds of cars, no matter you are well-dressed or uncombed, you can just sit into it; it will not be considered to be out of place, and also people will not giggle at you saying that you are not good enough for this car. This kind of cars are just like your bosom friends, you will be relaxed no matter what you dress in front of them.
Eye-catching car. There is another type of cars for people to show off. The cars for you to show off are totally different from what I mention above. People are excellent masters of using this kind of cars, because they love them the most. If your friends invite you to a star-studded party, or if you are a business man who needs to visit the client. You will not have a second choice, the first car that comes into your mind is the fanciest and the most luxurious one, the one that you use all your bank savings and take the risk of bankruptcy. When you drive it, you will need to make yourself tidy or wear formally, so as to let yourself be suitable for this high-class car. Because people buy it with careful consideration, they would choose the car that can enhance his/her value. Throughout many people’s lives, they cherish every opportunity when driving it, like a freshman cherishing job interviews to start his/her career. If there are no needs for driving the car, people will create a chance by themselves to just see it, for example, they just stand beside the car and look at it with their bright eyes, trying to convey their deepest love to it. Furthermore, even though there is no any dust on the car, they still take a rag to clean it frequently and talk with the car like talking to a man.
What about the hard-working car, the one you drive across the steep cliff and the high mountain? When people are going to face the hard task from the terrain or have a time-consuming journey, they will appoint this kind of car to challenge with them. For example, they drive to A-Li mountain to see cherry blossoms, or drive on the freeway from Kaohsiung to Taipei. As the car does the tough task, there are lots of stains on the car, but their owner would not clean it frequently. They think stains are the glory mark to show the car’s great achievements, like the soldiers who consider scars as their invaluable accomplishments. This kind of cars are symbolic of the live experiences of people; when they take a trip, they will drive it to explore the world. At the moment people arrive at the destination, they will say ”thank you very much” to the car to praise its great efforts.
The last kind of cars is for practice. When you are a novice getting a car license for driving, you will be excited to buy a dream car that you have desired for a long time. But when you are going to sweep your credit card, you come back to think about the practical aspect. Because of being a rookie, you are likely to collide with others; people decide to buy the car which might be a second-hand car or a small size car. This kind of cars are like veterans in battle who always goes first. They are not afraid of being hurt or sacrificing and they prepare for retiring any time when rookies are mature enough to be independent. With time goes by, the cars have lots of hurts or depressions on its appearance, but it does not matter, because they know it is their responsibility. When people grow up becoming a master at driving and recall that time, they will have deepest thanks for the car, because they are comrades and best friend during that period.
